Some days ago I went to Genbyg with my brother to pick up a lamp. Genbyg means re-build and they sell re-cycled materials - like manequins and lamps and windows and funny stuff from old hotels and factories.

Sorry for my lack of photos this summer, but I have been busy at work. My new job at Sparta (the largest athletic club in Copenhagen) is very exiting. We just had a great school olympics over 3 days for 6.000 students from 4th to the 6th grade. The lady in the middle is the mayor of Copenhagen, Ritt Bjerregaard - and the very handsome gentleman with the shooter finger is none other than our Crownprince Frederik.
The school who over all did the best was Sct. Annæ Gymnasium - congratulations!

The name of this cute little fishing boat is "Bollen". It means a kind of a roll - you know a small piece of bread. I have no idea why you would name your boat after a baked good. Thought it had to be after a woman. But maybe she was on a roll?

I'm not normally a negative person, nor do I like to write negative stuff about my city, but this is just too much out of style not to mention.
This is the corner at Gammel Torv where you used to find Café Stelling. A very stylish, yet relaxed place with great taste in design, food, coffee ect. They had a great range in magazines and I loved to go there for coffee and a read. But no more. Kafunky. Kafunky? First of all what kind of name is that - and then all the stars? Maybe I'm getting too old, but I just don't fancy it at all.
If you know the place or have some kind of oppinion, please correct me. But I still think it's a shame, when it's such a great location.

We went to Sweden the other weekend and had to take the train from the airport. This is a shot from one of the tracks.
It's all very clean and Scandinavian in style I guess. But the water container reminds me of New York. What do you think?

A while back I went to a bargain sale for Danish brands Stella Nova and Baum und Pferdgarten. Got some nice deals - thanks to sweet Ann-Louise fot the tip!
But I really wanted to show you the room. This is in the building of KFUM in St. Kannikestræde 19. I never knew a place like this existed. Beautiful and old fashioned - and filled with new fashion.

This is the scene from the town hall square this Thursday. You could come and get a chip on your bike (for free...) and that way the traffic wardens will be able to spot it when walking their rounds. Pretty good idea! And so thought a lot of people. I actually gave up and just shot these photos.

Marathon Man

Today was the day of the Copenhagen Marathon. A record breaking of 10.000 people had signed up - including my 58-year old dad - the cool guy in black pointing to the sky.
Here he is at almost 40 km - but still going strong. He finished at 4h 33 sek. and I'm so proud! When he passed us the first time at about 12 km. he even had time to hug my boys. Now that's a granddad!

Today I went to lovely Malmø with my husband and youngest son - it's very easy just to hop on a train and go across Øresund. You don't even need a passport!

Today is the beginning of the "We cycle to work campaign". I have 6 km. to and from work and ride my bike almost every day - and looove it!

New shoes?

These aren't new shoes but lots of old shoes at the Marathon Sport shop at Østerbrogade in Østerbro. This is just on the corner of Sortedamssøen (black-pond-lake).
They are gathering the shoes in order to send them to Belarus and Balcan with Red Cross for charity. So they need to be clean and not all worn out.

Copenhagen Marathon is Sunday May 24th - and my dad who's 58 is running like last year. Yeah daddy!

The other day I got lost. Well, not really lost - but I couldn't find the bargain sale I was looking for. So I went down to this cute store to ask directions and found so much beautiful stuff - not to mention kind and friendly service - that I had to take a photo and tell you all about it.

The shop is LIEBE and it's located in Kompagnistræde 23 in the center of Copenhagen - just by Strøget. It's run by Susan Liebe who among other things sells beautiful ceramic brooches by Casalinga. I just adore the designs!!

So Susan - if you read this - thank you so much for your kind help!

This is from Amaliehaven, a small park at the seaside just by Amalienborg castle where the Queen lives. It's a very beautiful place - and great spot to find a bit of shade in the summertime.

Today I went with my kids to the Sakura Festival at Langelinje (where the Little Mermaid is). It was very beautiful with all the trees and all the happy people enjoying it. You can still make it tomorrow. Lots to see and enjoy!

This is a part of Royal Danish Theatre called Stærekassen (stær means Starling and kassen means box). It's an Art Deco theatre adjacent to the main theatre. It is used for drama productions, and if you walk underneath - remember to look up.

Shot with my mobile phone this is Christianshavns Bådudlejning. A really wonderful place in Christianshavns Kanal just by Christianshavns Torv. You can eat, drink and not least enjoy the view. If you feel like sailing, you can even rent a boat.
When you tour the canals with the guided boats you pass this place and it's costum to always wave if you are "at sea". Don't ask me why - just wave!

And speaking of wave - our Queen Margrethe II turned 69 years old today. If you want to see how we celebrate the great lady - check this out.

This is something I shot when it was still winter and I was walking in Nørrebro along the wall at Nørrebrogade.
It just made me wonder - who made this? Some criminals wanting to advertise to get more people to join?
Statements like this in public always make me think - and wonder. And sometimes smile a little.
Copenhagen is awesome and not a crime.

Going out with the locals

This is an old school pub kind of place in Artillerivej - and I can tell you this without even being inside. It's a classic kind of place and even though the name, Artillericafeen, has café in it - it's not the place to go for your latte. But I bet you can get a beer from 10am in the morning.

If you want a different kind of experience than the regular bars - visit a place like this if you are in the city. It's often smokey and dark, but the beer is cheaper and you meet the most special people.

This may not be my finest shot - but this is from a very fine place called Din Nye Ven (your new friend) in Sankt Peders Stræde. Very low key, very cosy and quite indie, if you ask me. The service is friendly, the beer both organic and strong, and place is great for a little break when walking arround town - both day and evening. They also have music some nights, so it's very much worth a visit.

I went there last Thursday with my movie-friend Elise after seeing Kærestesorger (heartache) by Niels Malmros in the Dagmar Theatre.
